- The Kealakekua Public Library will be hosting the 2010 Summer Reading Program from June 1st to July 2nd. This year's theme is Make A Splash @ Your Library. There are prizes for reading books and a free weekly prize just for coming in to the library! The Sakura Music Ensemble, featuring a flutist and keyboard player is a program for all ages.

- The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation will be hosting "Bowling for Life" on Saturday, June 5th at Hilo Lanes. You are invited to join this fundraising effort by forming a five person team to raise money by bowling at this event. This is a three game, five member mixed team event. Registration begins at noon and the "bowl off" begins at 1:00pm. The Entry fee is $40 per bowler, for a total of $200.00 per team. All bowlers will receive T-shirts commemorating the event.
